Last weekend, professional athletes from around the country gathered at an event to raise money for the Urban Youth Scholarship Fund. Max International was proud to be a title sponsor at this event, the proceeds of which went to help inner city youth, pursue their goals of higher education—who would otherwise lack the means.

Co-CEOs Dave Bagley and Joe Voyticky were present and had meaningful interaction with the world class athletes at the event and introduced many of them to the company and its products. Each of the athletes received a bag of Max products which included samples of MaxGXL®, MaxOne, MaxATP, and Max N-Fuze.

“We’re proud to be able to team up with athletes like Warren Moon, Marshall Faulk, Michael Irvin, Jerry Rice, Eddie George, and many others who are too many to name, in support of a very worthy cause,” Dave Bagley said. “It’s always a great privilege to make a difference in people’s lives. As individuals and as a company we want to do that as much as possible.”

Events over the weekend included a VIP reception on Friday, June 24th, the main Dream Bowling competition on Saturday the 25th, and an after party the same night. It was a great opportunity to mix with not only top athletes, but people who, like Max and its Associates, are driven to make the world a better place. Several of the athletes were already taking Max products, including former NFL quarterback and current Seattle Seahawks broadcaster Warren Moon, who gave Max products a glowing review at the reception dinner.

Dave told one group of athletes that one thing their fellow athletes consistently report on Max products is a significant decrease of soreness during and after workouts. He even challenged them to try to start taking the products, then push themselves to become sore during a workout. One of the athletes said, “If you’re serious, I’ll do it.”

Whether or not the athletes will take the challenge to heart and put the products to the test remains to be seen. Regardless, last weekend in Vegas was time well spent for two Max executives who helped raise money for a great cause and in the process got the word out about a unique company with products unlike anything out there.

“It’s truly a pleasure and a privilege to support such a worthy cause,” Dave said.

Finish June Strong with month-end Business Calls is a post from:

The U.S. and Canada Road to Diamond Event concluded on Saturday, June 25th, the last day of an inspiring, unifying, and celebratory event not soon to be forgotten. As one Associate was heard to comment at Saturday’s dinner, “You have to get your people to this event. They have to want to be here.”

Saturday’s morning session featured eye-opening training from Double Crown Diamond Alan Sickman and Co-CEO Joe Voyticky, who shared his world-class knowledge of negotiations with attendees. Joe has taught this subject at the Harvard Law School (where of course he also studied), and his remarks introduced Associates’ to the idea of BATNAs (best alternative to a negotiated agreement), using third-party information in negotiations, and working toward agreements that truly meet the other person’s needs.

The afternoon was set aside for an “Amazing Race“-style team building exercise. Associates were divided into random teams and were given the task of deciphering clues that led them to various Salt Lake City landmarks…some more historic than others—the Eagle Gate Monument on State Street and South Temple; the Salt Lake Tabernacle; Clark Planetarium; Gateway fountains; Energy Solutions Arena; the Salt Palace, and back to the hotel.

Once the teams arrived at each station the teams had to perform a task that required team work and imagination. For example, at the Tabernacle, given it’s historic connection to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, teams had to sing to Sales VP Bob Kaelin. At another, they had to do a coordinated dance. At the fountain, teams had to fill a water cup by soaking a sponge and passing the water cup-t0-cup. One of the most difficult challenges was trying to blow a bubble using three very sugary gum balls. It proved much harder than the contestants (including Becky Daly) probably imagined.

To wrap up the event, teams had to construct a 3-foot-tall tower made of marshmallows and (uncooked) spaghetti. The activity brought smiles to many faces, not to mention more than a little competitive spirit. The team that eventually won built up a large, early lead. A team trying to close the gap was able to do so…by skipping the fourth station (names have been omitted to protect the guilty!). All who participated greatly enjoyed the chance to get outside for a couple hours of fun.

After all the teams returned, they had the privilege of meeting Max’s oldest Associate, Bishop Otis Clark, who, at 108 years old (!), is still preaching the Gospel message and living well, thanks in part no doubt to Max.

The event wrapped up with a well-received buffet dinner featuring babyback ribs and apple crisp & ice cream. Many dinners raved about the ribs, returning for second helpings. Everyone was able to unwind after dinner with an energetic night of Karaoke. As Bob Kaelin said, “if you’ve never done Karaoke with Puerto Rican Associates, you’re in for a treat.” Any Puerto Rican involvement meant lots of dancing and exuberant renditions of regional favorites.

While many Associates departed for home on Sunday, a large number stayed in town for today’s corporate Fly-In, a great way to wrap up a productive, insightful weekend, and simultaneously begin the next phase of their career with Max.

Congratulations to all who attended! Watch for information regarding the next U.S. & Canada Road to Diamond and how you can qualify.

Road to Diamond Concludes with Rousing Amazing Race Activity, Joe Voyticky Training, Dinner, Karaoke, and more! is a post from:

The first full day of the Road to Diamond Event focused attending Associates on proven strategies, techniques, and insights that will deepen their skill and further their success in the business. Events like this are a springboard to Diamond that all Associates should strive to be part of.

Steve Scott administered his legendary personality test that helped Associates understand their strengths and weaknesses and how to communicate with people of varying personalities. Later in the day, Steve illustrated how this knowledge plays a crucial role in partnering. On that subject, he discussed the importance of vision, of knowing where you are going. In Steve’s words, how can you recruit a partner if you don’t know where you’re going?

Additional training throughout the day from including goal setting and “shooting for the moon” by Bob Kaelin and Tina Reninger, the essential factor of positive exposure to the Max business by Rick Teague, leadership and commitment by Alan Sickman, recruiting techniques from George Reninger, commentary about the Diamond Retreat by Alex Monterrosa, the perks of being a Diamond from Jean Sickman, a couple simple but powerful metaphors from Bill Greenman, and the sense of family, treating people right, and networking from Julio Rivera.

Co-CEO Dave Bagley spoke about the importance of playing to win, not just “not to lose,” and not being timid in the business.

The day concluded with a picture-perfect recognition dinner at Tuscany, one of Salt Lake City’s top restaurants, and a stop at Max’s headquarters for the “lighting” of the new Max International sign on our building.

Road to Diamond Day 1 is a post from:

Day one came upon me quickly but, of course, I was prepared. I start every morning with MaxOne™ and MaxATP™. I wanted to get to the track early and get in a good warm up so I’d be ready for the 100 meter heats. Knowing that the former Gold and Silver Medalist from the last World Championships were going to be in my heat, I was a wee bit concerned. But then again, I thought, smiling to myself, they don’t have RiboCeine™.

The gun goes off and I spring from my starting blocks like a panther, getting to 60 meters with a comfortable lead. Feeling confident, I geared down and, over the last 10 meters, the Gold Medalist from the last championships surged by me at the line. Since there were three heats, the top eight times posted in those heats make it to the final, so I wasn’t worried about letting the former champ move up on me.

There was one other sprinter who posted a great time in the heats, so I knew it would be between the two of us. The good news is I broke the world record. The bad news is I came in second. So I grabbed the Silver Medal in the 100 meter. But I felt great about my time considering that most of my competition was almost 10 years younger than me.

Next up was the weight throw, also called the ball throw, which involves throwing a ball the same weight as a baseball for distance. Being a thrower and former decathlete, I anticipated an easy victory. I found extra motivation over losing the Gold in the 100 meter. Well, I’m happy to say I set new World and World Transplant World Games records on my first throw, but I still had three throws to go.

But first, I had to participate in a 4 x 100 meter relay for team USA. I didn’t feel like we had a legitimate shot at a medal in this event, but I was intent on having my team give it our best shot. Sadly, I was right. Although we finished second in our heat, we didn’t have a fast enough time to make the top three overall. I also tweaked my hamstring during the relay by probably trying a little too hard to run down the man in front of me. I’m hoping it won’t prevent me from running the 200 meter on Thursday. With a bit of a hobble in my step, I walked back to do my final three throws in the ball throw. Each successive throw went a little farther and I finished with a record throw of 72.67 (240 feet).

So to recap, I finished my first day at the games with a Gold Medal, a Silver Medal, a world record, and a World Transplant Games record. I have to feel pretty good about that! Thanks Max!
